6. Nov. Our last trip took us to Kalay, Tedim and Temu which is in Chin State. This is very close to the India border and the area with the highest mountains of Myanmar. For tourist, this region is well-known for great hiking and tracking routes.
As beautiful as this landscape is, so difficult are the transport routes when it comes to medical care. On the other side, the hygiene in this area is much better than in big cities like Yangon, they have more space, lighter and more fresh air.
We visited a big hospital and clinics, in both we found less patients with infections like TB and Malaria, the reason for this is a better lifestyle, more exercise, better hygiene, also if the food is not well-balanced. But if there is a medical issue which is serious, there is no possibility to get fast help – the distances are to long and the mountain streets are bad.
