Thadingyut Festival Myanmar

The Thadingyut Festival, the Lighting Festival of Myanmar, is held on the full moon day of the Burmese Lunar month of Thadingyut., this year it was the 5th of October 2017. As a custom, it is held at the end of the Buddhist lent and is the second most popular festival in Myanmar. At this evening i got the recommendation to visit the Botahtaung Pagoda, this is the place where locals go.

I got the possibility to go inside the Pagoda, it was fascination, all walls are golden and they have stored some very old historic relics.

And close to this beautiful Pagoda, at the water side was a big street festival

During the whole week the people decorated the house, the garden , the park with lanterns in all colours. Also the fruit dealer prepared some nice decorated fruit basket, which the people use as present for friends, family or the Buddha. It is tradition that if you visit a person in this week that you bring a nice present.
